Captain America, X-Men & More Get Marvel Holiday Themed Fan Posters

Marvel Cinematic Universe characters get fan posters for their own holiday-themed special presentations in the style of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Following the release of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, several Marvel Cinematic Universe characters get fan posters for their own special presentations. With the end of Phase 4 comes the conclusion of the first chapter in the MCU’s ongoing Multiverse Saga. Compared to previous Phases, the latest one helped expand the MCU with the help of Disney+. Marvel Studios created several TV shows for the platform featuring established and new heroes from the comics. The fall came with a new format for Marvel Studios in the form of special presentations, or standalone events. Marvel has released Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which just debuted on Disney+.

Why The MCU Needs More Special Presentations

While there have only been two MCU special presentations thus far on Disney+, the response among critics and fans has already signaled that Marvel Studios needs to and should invest in making more of them. Even though the Disney+ original shows that have come out of the MCU have allowed Marvel Studios to branch out their larger universe, some of them have stumbled along the way, with six episodes sometimes either being too much or not enough for their respective seasons. In the case of Werewolf by Night, which was definitely one of the more obscure aspects from the Marvel Universe that the MCU has adapted, that allowed Disney+ to explore characters that didn’t necessarily need a two-hour-long movie or a six-episode season.

One of the big takeaways from these special presentations is that they allow Marvel Studios to tap into holidays, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. In past years, they have had MCU films that are sometimes set around those holidays but do not really come out during those times. With a strong platform in Disney+, this is another way to not only broaden the MCU, but tie-in to the holidays, especially as many families come together and can gather around the TV for a shared adventurous experience. In the case of of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, it wasn’t just a way to serve as a prelude to Vol. 3, but also tell a properly themed story that wasn’t too long or too short.

So far, Marvel Studios has not announced any further special presentations coming up in Phases 5 and 6. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be additional holiday-themed installments next year, as Marvel Studios may be keeping their plans under wraps for the time being. Given the great response to both Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, the studio is obviously paying attention and is always good at taking in positive feedback that allows for similar products to be made. Whether it’s for Phases 5 or 6, it will hopefully not be long until more MCU special presentations are announced in the near future.
