Players looking to bolster their Flying-type Pokémon’s arsenal in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can craft TM 097 to teach them the powerful Fly move.
Players looking to teach their Pokémon the Fly attack in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will first need to find the TM 097 recipe to craft it. Unlike many of the previous Pokémon games in the franchise where players obtained TM’s by exploring the world or through special NPCs, players in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will have to craft this Technical Machine. After it is crafted, players can use it on a Flying-type Pokémon to teach them the Fly move, which can be used in combat to gain semi-invulnerability for a turn.
Unlike in previous games, the Fly move can no longer be used to fly to different locations across the map, as players will need to beat Titans to unlock that ability in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Instead, it is a unique combat move that sends the Pokémon to the sky for one turn, becoming invulnerable to all but the following attacks: Gust, Helping Hand, Hurricane, Sky Uppercut, Smack Down, Thousand Arrows, Thunder, Toxic, and Twister. On its next turn, the flying Pokémon swoops down from the sky and deals physical damage to their opponents. This move is very effective against Grass-, Fighting-, and Bug-type Pokémon, and weak against Electric-, Rock-, and Steel-types.
How to Get The Fly TM 97 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
According to Game 8, the first step in crafting TM 097 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is unlocking the ability to craft it in TM Machines in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet by finding its recipe in West Province (Area One) at the location shown on the map above. After that, players will need to collect all the necessary components, which consist of 5,000 League Points, 3 Bombirdier Feathers, 3 Rufflet Feathers, and 3 Squawkabilly Feathers. Getting the feathers is relatively straightforward, as players simply need to face and defeat Bombirdiers, Rufflets, and Squawkabillies.
Getting the points may be a bit tougher, but players can farm these by facing and defeating other trainers and selling material components they don’t need in the game’s shops. When all materials are gathered, players should head to a TM Machine, which can be found in any Pokémon Center in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and select TM 097 to craft it.
