How To Get The Phantom Armor Set In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Three pieces of the Phantom Armor set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can allow players to get some of the highest base defense against attacks from Hyrule’s dangerous enemies. Divided into the Phantom Helmet, Phantom Armor, and Phantom Greaves, this set calls back to evil phantoms that had this eerie and rare armor equipped. Much like in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this armor remains an excellent choice for players early in their adventures.

One of the benefits of the Phantom Armor set is that each piece has a Base Defense of 8, which may be the highest starting armor of any piece of gear Link can find in the game. Some of the best armor sets in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have special abilities that make up for lower defense, but the Phantom set has both. The absurd defense alone should be enough to encourage players to track down the set.

How To Find The Phantom Helmet in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Players can start searching for the Phantom Helmet near Puffer Beach, a wider location settled around the coordinates (0293, -3848, 0004). This region lies to the south of Hyrule, right past Utsushok Shrine, if players are looking for a place to fast travel. The beach oversees a wider ocean, with Zonai rockets in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom scattered alongside the sands for players to pick up.

To reach the armor piece, players have to fuse a Zonai rocket into a contraption that boosts Link up. The most common way to do this is to attack a rocket to Link’s shield, giving it the ability to propel the player up when activated. Similar to other Zonai devices in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players should keep in mind how long the rocket will last based on the complexity of their fusion.

Across the beach, players can look up and spot a hole leading into a cave above them, marked by a Luminous Rock deposit. By using the rocket to launch themselves up, players can enter Puffer Beach Overhead Cave. Host to several enemies in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, including a Silver Horriblin right away, players must work their way through the cave while defeating enemies along the way.

Once players reach the back of the cave system, a small treasure chest may be seen within a shrine at the very end of the area in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The Phantom Helmet lies within the chest, giving players +8 Defense and an increase to attack power.

How To Find The Phantom Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Another cave called Tamio River Downstream Cave holds the Phantom Armor, located around the coordinates (-2968, -0981, 0035). Traveling to the Gerudo Highlands, this cave can be found northeast of the Skyview Tower, leading players to a region close to Satori Mountain. Due to how high up this place can be in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players might need gear with cold protection to resist the negative climate of these areas.

In the cave, players will once again have to defeat several enemies who climb the ceiling above a body of water before reaching two tunnels to the left and right. Taking the left path leads to a large room with another shrine on a high pillar in the distance with the Phantom Armor. The only issue here is that a dangerous Gloom Hands enemy in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom lurks below, waiting for players to run out of stamina and fall to the cave floor.

Since defeating a Gloom Hands summons Phantom Ganon in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players should only try to beat that enemy if they are confident enough in their gear and combat skills. Most of the time, players should avoid the Gloom Hands until they go behind the pillar with the Shrine. Here, a cracked rock wall can be destroyed using a Bomb Flower or with the help of Yunobo, leading to a path up.

At the end of the path, players will find themselves right at the Shrine, with a small chest containing the Phantom Armor. Similar to the Helmet, this piece grants an attack bonus, as well as +8 Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How To Find the Phantom Greaves in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

It can be quite tricky to find the Phantom Greaves since they are found in a sandpit deep within the East Barrens of the Gerudo region. However, by traveling either south from Siwakama Shrine or west from South Lomei Labyrinth, players will find several different swirling pools of sand that act as holes leading to secret underground caverns. One such cavern in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom holds the Ancient Altar Ruins armor piece.

Situated around the coordinates (-2504, -3702, 0010), players can fly above the sands to pinpoint which quicksand pockets they should enter. Thankfully, Link may easily use the Ascend ability to rise out of any cavern that doesn’t hold the right chest. Players will eventually come across a shrine similar to the other two within one of these caves in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with a chest containing the Phantom Greaves.

Once again, this piece of the Phantom armor set gives players +8 Armor and an attack power boost. Assuming players have every piece of the set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, they should have 3 attack bonuses and 24 Armor in total.

How To Upgrade The Phantom Armor Set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Unfortunately, the Phantom Armor Set cannot be upgraded, making it a strong armor with little potential for anything more. However, as players get more and more resources, this armor serves as a great starting set of gear for the challenges of the early game before moving on to other upgraded sets.

While the Phantom Armor pieces are something players could certainly get in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the absolute defense and attack power may struggle against the tougher enemies and bosses found later in the game.
