SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

This month, Marvel officially revealed Thanos was returning, as the Mad Titan will come back in Thanos: Death Notes #1. The one-shot will feature multiple stories centered around the Marvel Comics supervillain, including following up on Thor’s dark vision from the Black Winter in his own ongoing series about Thanos wielding Mjolnir while leading an undead version of the Avengers. However, the comic will also feature a story starring Iron Man, where Tony Stark will face off against a mysterious robotic version of Thanos, who will seemingly cause significant problems for the hero.

In a brand-new look at Thanos: Death Notes #1 from Marvel Comics by Torunn Grønbekk, Kyle Starks, Christopher Cantwell, Andrea Di Vito, Travel Foreman, Ron Lim, David Curiel, Geoff Shaw, Dean White, Don Ho, Israel Silva, Rachelle Rosenberg and more creators, one of the preview pages features Iron Man encountering a robot version of Thanos. However, the meeting doesn’t seem particularly friendly, as Tony Stark hits the machine with a blast of energy as the Mad Titan tries to break free from being contained. Check out the unlettered preview page below.

It’s not exactly clear where the robot version of Thanos came from, why Iron Man is confronting it, and whether Tony Stark is somehow responsible for building the machine form of the villain. However, given Iron Man is fighting with and has the robotic Thanos in shackles, the new version of the Mad Titan doesn’t seem to be coming in peace. Check out the text solicitation for Thanos: Death Notes #1, which teases the stories coming in the upcoming one-shot.

Thanos is missing, presumed dead. But Thor has seen a vision of his return. And it is enough to make even a God fear. To prepare himself, to prepare the universe, Thor desperately searches for answers in Thanos’ past…and finds a glimpse of the Marvel Universe’s dark future.

In his storied Marvel Comics history, especially recently, Iron Man has made a habit of accidentally helping create villains that routinely come back to bite him. It’s certainly possible Thanos is another example of Tony Stark pushing the boundaries of his genius – but it would be surprising if he found some need to create a version of the universe’s most powerful villain. Regardless, Iron Man will be forced to deal with the robotic Thanos and seemingly fight the machine as it tries to break free from him. Thanos: Death Notes #1 by Marvel Comics is in comic book stores in November.
