Who Plays Toussaint In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Toussaint is a new character introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Here is more on the MCU role and the up-and-coming actor who plays him.

An up-and-coming young actor plays Toussaint, whose Wakandan name is Prince T’Challa, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The MCU sequel underlines how impossible it is to replace Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa. As a feature-length tribute to Boseman’s legacy, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever focuses on T’Challa’s family, his values, and his kingdom. So, instead of a traditional MCU post-credits scene tease for an upcoming project, director Ryan Coogler included a very small and personal epilogue at the end of the movie.

In the very moving Black Panther: Wakanda Forever credits scene, Nakia introduces Shuri to the son that she had in secret with T’Challa. Toussaint, who is played by actor Divine Love Konadu-Sun in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in his acting debut, reveals that he knew his father would pass away, as he and Nakia prepared him for that moment while he enjoyed a calm life in Haiti, away from the pressures of his ancestral home. Toussaint also reveals his Wakandan name is T’Challa, and Nakia suggests that when the moment comes, the new prince will ascend to the throne and become the next Black Panther.

What We Know About Prince T’Challa So Far

Nakia and Prince T'Challa in Black Panther Wakanda Forever

Toussaint’s surprising introduction changes what Black Panther: Wakanda Forever first suggested about the Black Panther mantle. Although Shuri ingested the Heart-Shaped Herb and wore the new Black Panther suit in the battle against Namor and the Talokans, she may not remain the official Black Panther for long. After all, she took up the mantle only because she needed to protect her kingdom and wanted to exact revenge for Queen Ramonda’s death. While she’s ready to wield the claws when the situation calls for it, Shuri still sees herself as a scientist more than a warrior. So, when Toussaint, a.k.a. Prince T’Challa, is old enough to fight, she may pass the torch on to him.

Toussaint is around seven years old, lives in Haiti with his mother Nakia, met his father and grandmother before they died, and is acquainted with the royal destiny that awaits him. Since Phase 4 of Marvel’s franchise has been consolidating a new generation of heroes in the form of the MCU’s Young Avengers, Prince T’Challa could be part of it. He has all the resources and training he could wish for at his disposal, and Shuri’s new Heart-Shaped Herb ensures that he will be able to fully become a Black Panther when the time is right.

When Will T’Challa’s Son Appear In The MCU After Black Panther 2?

Young Prince T'Challa and the MCU Young Avengers

Considering his age, Toussaint could easily be part of the MCU’s Young Avengers alongside Riri Williams, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Elijah Bradley, America Chavez, Kid Loki, Skaar, and Billy and Tommy Maximoff. Prince T’Challa actor Divine Love Konadu-Sun could reprise his Black Panther: Wakanda Forever role if a Young Avengers project is still a few years away, but there’s also the possibility the MCU will recast the character with an older, more established actor, as was the case with Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Other than a Young Avengers project, after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Toussaint could also appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars in a small role, and quite likely in an eventual Black Panther 3, where he could finally act as a full-fledged, independent Black Panther.
